UK Motorway Services

You can stay for 2 hours at motorway services without having to pay, and additional time varies by location but the majority offer overnight stays along with food, toilets and showers 24/7. Remember these are private companies and they all have their own rules, charges and facilities so its best to check beforehand if you're planning a route to make sure you have everything you need.

MotoThe Majority of Moto Services permit overnight parking, see their link here. The charge for staying more than 2 hours, at the time of writing varies between £14 at Saltash through to £32 at Medway but these are subject to change. Toilets are 24/7 but at some services showers and food may not be so check ahead.

You can find a map of moto services here, from where you can select the desired location and will be able to see the overnight charge and contact numbers to call.

Welcome BreakThe majority of welcome break services have dedicated motorhome and caravan parking in which you can stay for up to 24 hours for a charge. Payment is taken at designated points as signposted on site and will need your registration number. Some times are starting to take payment via a mobile App but this is not fully rolled out. You can find dedicated information for Welcome Break sites Here. Since Welcome break use the dreaded and much hated ParkingEye, great care must be taken when parking even up to the free 2 hours, take pictures of your vehicle, your parking ticket, and any parking signage and accurately record your time of arrival and exit in case its needed.

You can contact Welcome Break via email at Customer.Service@WelcomeBreak.co.uk The Camping and Caravanning Club seem to offer 20% at Welcome Break for members.

The majority of Roadchef locations have overnight parking for campers and motorhomes even though its not listed on their website, and the prices seem to vary between £15 and £35 at the time of writing, and also offer a food voucher for an extra fiver. You can only stay for 2 hours free of charge. You can find a list of Roadchef locations here, after selecting one you will be able to see the parking charge, as well as site facilities and contact information.

You can contact Roadchef via email at contact@roadchef.com

The Caravan and Motorhome Club seem to offer 20% discount at Roadchef for members.

Extra also have dedicated parking bays for motorhomes, campers and caravans but they don't have special parking charges, instead opting for a far simpler and more sensible parking charge scale from 3 hours free, through to 72 hours for £90, their 24 hours charge being £35 at the time of writing. Whilst toilets are 24/7 food and other services may not be so do check when you arrive. Parking is paid for at the payment terminals in the main building or food court entrances, you cannot pay by phone or app at the time of writing.

You can find a list of Extra locations here and each location has dedicated information on capacity, facilities but doesn't provide contact information, which is notably absent, and whilst they do have a 'contact' section on their website with a picture of a phone, there is no phone number of any facility to call them, but there is a fairly well hidden contact form (you have to click the clipboard on the middle left of the page).
